Toronto is getting a surprise pop-up dose of new music this evening as multi–JUNO Award–nominated alt-pop band Valley are set to perform an intimate set on Ossington in support of their new single “Vending Machine.”
The show will take place on June 12 at 6:30 p.m. at 229 Ossington Ave.
The band—Rob Laska (vocals, guitar), Alex Dimauro (bass), and Karah James (vocals, drums)—also dropped the song alongside a a new music video, marking their first new release in nearly two years since their third album, Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden.
The pop-up show itself is set to be stripped down and tightly packed designed more as a uniquely Toronto moment rather than a full production.
According to a statement from the band, “’Vending Machine’ is a song about transactional relationships with people. A Vending Machine exists to give things on demand. It doesn’t have needs or emotions. People only approach it when they want something. A source of comfort, attention, validation, or entertainment. It’s love that depends on output, not connection.”
Looking ahead, Valley are getting ready for a busy summer of touring, including festival appearances at Osheaga, Rock The Park, and Area 506, as well as a Toronto stop at The Theatre at Grand Canadian Resort opening for The All-American Rejects.
