Yes, Colonel Sanders lived in Mississauga, and now you can buy his former home

The former Mississauga home of KFC founder Colonel Harland Sanders is on the market for $1.5 million. Yes, that Colonel Sanders, of Kentucky Fried Chicken fame.

Turns out, the Colonel’s secret recipe might have something to do with the Greater Toronto Area.

Back in 1965, the snazzily dressed fried chicken king moved up to Mississauga to oversee Canadian operations.

He moved into the four-level side-split house at 1337 Melton Ave. in the Lakeview neighbourhood in 1965 with his wife. He lived in the home for many years while overseeing his finger lickin’ good empire. He later died in 1980 in Kentucky.

The house isn’t what it was in 1965 having undergone numerous renovations, and there is unlikely to be that delicious fried chicken scent. But it now has more than 2,000 square feet of space, with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, multiple living rooms, and two laundry areas.

It also includes a modern kitchen, a finished basement recreation room, fireplaces, heated flooring in the primary bathroom, and other upgrades. A major renovation and addition were completed in 2014.

The property is being sold by Meta Realty for just under $1.5 million.
